How Long does the hair need to be for waxing? If you’ve been shaving we need at least 3 weeks growth before a wax, but more is better! The hair needs to be able to bend back on itself easily to come out with the wax.
How often will I need a wax? This varies depending on how quickly your hair grows, but on average most clients will go 4-6 weeks between appointments.
Can I have a bikini wax when I’m on my period? YES! Of course. It’s advised to wear a tampon or cup as you won’t be able to wear a towel. I always have wipes and sanitary items readily available for you to use, and a bathroom too.
Can I wax if I’m pregnant? It’s another yes! I have many clients who have carried on their normal waxing schedule throughout their pregnancies. The only exception is if you have an at risk pregnancy, we suggest you wait til the second trimester.
Who can’t wax? There aren’t many people that are unsuitable for waxing, but those that are include;
- Anyone on skin thinning medication, topical or oral.
- If you’re using oral acne medication.
- If you have sunburn or peeling skin.
- If you have various veins, bruises, or broken skin in the treatment area.
This list is not exhaustive.
Does waxing hurt? Waxing isn’t totally pain free, anyone that’s offering ‘pain free waxing’ is a liar! But it’s not that bad and it gets easier each time as your hair growth reduces. I’m pretty quick and efficient when I wax, a Hollywood will take approx 15 minutes and a half leg 10 minutes, so you’re not going to be lay there for hours having your hairs pulled out!
How long will the results last? This varies depending on how quickly your hair grows and how many waxes you’ve had. Your first couple of waxes won’t give you the best or most silky smooth results that you’re going to get – that comes after you’ve had a few waxes and your hairs are starting to grow in a better cycle.
Once you’ve had a few regular waxes, 4-6 weeks apart, then you will start to see that you can go around 3-4 weeks without any growth, then for the last 1-2 weeks before you’re due an appointment the hairs will start sprouting through – This is exactly where we want you to be!
What should I do to prepare for a waxing appointment? To prepare for a waxing appointment, you should ensure that your skin is clean and dry, exfoliate the area gently, and avoid applying any lotions or oils. More information can be found here.
What is the aftercare following a waxing session? After waxing, it’s essential that you don’t touch the area with dirty hands! It is also recommended to avoid hot baths, sun exposure, saunas, and vigorous exercise for 24 hours. Additionally, regular exfoliation or the use of an aftercare products can help prevent ingrown hairs. More information can be found here.
