Here are a few tips to make sure you get the very best from your waxing or laser hair removal treatments;
Grow, grow, grow!
I cant wax you if there’s no hair at the surface, I need at the very least 3 weeks growth from shaving, and 4-5 weeks between waxes – approx 4-5mm.
For laser, even though you shave before your appointments I only want to be treating you when you have enough hair growing; It’s not the length of the hair, it’s the density. So if you’ve been shaving you’d be ready to start laser already, and if you’re switching from waxing we want at least 6-8 weeks growth since your last wax, then you’ll need to leave anything from 8 weeks to 4-5 months between your laser treatments to make sure each treatment kills the maximum amount of hairs (which means less treatments overall!).
Exfoliate
Exfoliation is so important because we want all of the hairs to be out of the skin so we can get them, not trapped underneath. It will also make your skin feel much softer and look so much better after the hair has been removed. Exfoliating after your treatment will also help prevent ingrown hairs.
My top pick for exfoliation is Eve Taylor Exfoliating Mousse, it’s gorgeous! Leaves your skin so smooth and moisturised.
Moisturise
Moisturising your skin all over your body is a basic essential. Not only will it keep your skin in good condition and make your skin feel softer and smoother, but it will enable the hairs to glide out easier when waxing and also help prevent the hairs from snapping. Using a product like Eve Taylor Rescue and Repair moisturiser will also help soothe your skin after hair removal treatments.
IMPORTANT: Avoid heavy oil based creams and body butters that leave your skin greasy on the day of your appointment.
No tanning
I can’t wax or laser skin that’s been in the sun, and you should avoid sun exposure after an appointment too as your skin will be sensitised and more prone to burning. Fake tan is ok before waxing but the waxing will probably pull it off, but you absolutely must not use fake tan before laser hair removal, it will make your skin burn! Fake tan is ok after a treatment, but wait 2-3 days for the skin to settle.
Wear loose clothing after your appointment
For 12-24 hours following a hair removal appointment you need to keep the area cool and calm but covered up so it’s worth thinking about this before you come. If you’re having a leg wax it doesn’t feel great trying to squeeze them back into tights or skinny jeans! And if you’re having a bikini wax please wear (or bring spare) plain cotton underwear for after your appointment, preferably not thongs or anything lacy as they can irritate the skin.
NO BLOODY SHAVING – if you’re waxing
Nothing ruins the hard work and trauma of growing your hair out and coming for regular waxes quicker than shaving. Honestly, you’ll be smooth for 6 hours then it’s going to take months to get rid of the stubble that keeps growing through, so if you’re a waxer or want to reap the benefits of consistent waxing I would just try to avoid shaving at all costs.
Be consistent
I say it enough, regular and consistent waxing gets the absolute best results.
I have a lot of clients that have been coming to me for 10+ years now, and their regrowth is so minimal between appointments and they only need to come every 6-8 weeks. Some don’t even need to come that often anymore.
Just look at this comparison from the same client after shaving and after waxing – there’s just no competition really is there!?

If you’re ready for hair removal that lasts longer than the time it takes to perform, get in touch, let’s get you booked in!
