Pre & Aftercare

I want you to get the very best out of your treatment, so please take note of the following advice.

Not all treatments require pre or post care.


Laser Hair Removal

Who cannot have Laser Hair Removal?

  • Under 18’s
  • We cannot treat over tattoos, this includes semi-permanent make-up.
  • Clients with Cardiovascular diseases. In particular Hypertension and Epilepsy are a definitive no for treatment.
  • Individuals suffering from rheumatism, type 1 diabetes and severe general illnesses will be assessed on an individual basis.
  • Treatments on transplanted skin should not be carried out.
  • Unknown / Undiagnosed Skin conditions
  • Infectious skin conditions, therapy should not be applied until the infections have healed
  • Hypertrichosis and hirsutism must only be treated after consultation of the client’s physician, given that illnesses or medications might be the cause.
  • Anti-coagulant medications will have to be suspended prior to treatment after consultation with the administering physician.
  • Clients taking medications, nutritional supplements and foods that could cause light sensitivity (Phototoxicity)
  • Clients with Epilepsy
  • Clients with heart issues inc pacemaker
  • Areas with replacement joints, metal pins or plates cannot be treated
  • Poor blood circulation
  • Areas of varicose veins cannot be treated
  • Fungal infection
  • Anyone with contagious skin disease or disorder (impetigo, ringworm, coldsore etc)
  • Clients prone to pigmentation
  • Anyone with sunburnt or peeling skin
  • Clients with keloid scar tissue
  • Anybody undergoing cancer treatment
  • Durning pregnancy

Before your patch test

  • Please attend your patch test appointment with at least 5 days hair growth in the area you would like treating, so that I can assess the growth thoroughly.
  • Ensure you have completed all consultation forms that have been sent to you.
  • Please get in touch if there is any reason you believe you aren’t suitable for treatment.

Good preparation and after care are essential to ensure that your skin remains cool, smooth and healthy after your treatment.

This information applies to the areas treated.

Before your appointment:

  • Exfoliate gently everyday for a week prior to your appointment (body only, not face).
  • Avoid the use of essential oils for at least 48 hours prior.
  • Do not use hair removal creams for at least 1 week prior.
  • If you have been on antibiotics wait 2 weeks.
  • Avoid retinol, AHA’s, BHA’s and skin resurfacing products on your face for 7 day prior.
  • Avoid UV exposure for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment to avoid skin burning.
  • Do not use fake tan or gradual tan for at least 2 weeks prior – it can burn!
  • I advise shaving the area a few times in the week running up to your appointment to give you the best chance of doing a good job!
  • Are you on any new meds? Please let me know at least 2 weeks before your appointment!

On the day of your appointment:

  • Wear cool, loose clothing to your appointment.
  • Don’t apply any creams to your skin.
  • Avoid sweating, friction, heat and prolonged water exposure for at least 12 hours prior. This includes but is not limited to exercise, heated car seats, baths, swimming, sex and sauna.
  • Shave (thoroughly but gently) at least 12 hours before, shaving less than 12 hours before increases skin sensitivity. Remember, I can only laser where you have shaved, we need no hair at the surface. Any areas that haven’t been shaved properly I will not be able to treat.

Immediately after treatment:

  • Keep cool
  • Wear loose clothing
  • Apply aloe vera if needed
  • Apply a cool (not frozen) compress if needed
  • Avoid scratching the area, if it feels itchy use aloe vera or a cool compress as above

For 24 hours avoid:

  • Touching / sex / skin to skin contact
  • Tight clothing / lace underwear
  • Exfoliating
  • Sweating, friction, heat and prolonged water exposure. This includes but is not limited to exercise, heated car seats, baths, swimming, sex and sauna.
  • Perfumed products, AHAs, Acids
  • Deodorants

For 7 days avoid:

  • Sunbathing, sunbeds and UV, fake tan – although it is best to avoid these alltogether whilst you are having laser treatment

After 24 hours:

  • Exfoliate and moisturise the area at least every other day
  • Schedule in your next treatment for around 8-10 weeks time
  • Don’t shave for two weeks after treatment or until the hair has shed
  • Use SPF50+ on the treated areas if exposed in daylight hours, even in winter

Waxing

Please ensure you follow these instructions to get the best out of your treatment;

Before your appointment:

  • Exfoliate daily for a week prior to your appointment.
  • Ensure you have enough hair growth to wax, 3-4 weeks min.
  • Are you on acne medication or steroid cream? You can’t have waxing for at least 6 months after use.
  • Avoid retinol, AHA’s and BHA’s for 7 day prior.
  • Are you on any new meds? Please let me know at least a week before your appointment!

On the day of your appointment:

  • Wear loose clothing (and clean cotton underwear for a bikini wax).
  • Don’t apply any creams to your skin.
  • Avoid sweating, friction, heat and prolonged water exposure for at least 12 hours prior. This includes but is not limited to exercise, heated car seats, baths, swimming, sex and sauna.
  • No UV, sunbeds or sunbathing.

Waxing aftercare is essential to ensure that your skin remains smooth and healthy after your treatment.

For 24 – 48 hours, on the treated area please avoid:

  • Touching / sex / skin to skin contact
  • Tight clothing / lace underwear
  • Exfoliating
  • Sweating, friction, heat and prolonged water exposure. This includes but is not limited to exercise, heated car seats, baths, swimming, sex and sauna.
  • Perfumed products
  • Deodorants
  • Sunbathing, sunbeds and fake tan

After 24 hours:

  • Exfoliate and moisturise the area at least every other day to keep skin soft and smooth.
  • Aloe Clear can be used Daily to treat and prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Schedule in your next wax for around 4-5 weeks time.
  • If you’d prefer a longer term hair removal option, laser hair removal is an excellent choice.

Lash Lift & Brow Lamination

Before your appointment;

  • Please don’t wear mascara or other makeup or use oils on the eye/brow area for 24 hours prior to treatment. It can create a barrier which can give poor results.
  • Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds for at least 48 hours before your appointment.
  • Fake tan can go a funny colour so make sure there’s none on your brows for about a week prior.
  • If you haven’t had a treatment or patch test in over 6 months you will need to have a patch test at least 72 hours prior to your treatment.

After your appointment;

  • Avoid excess hot water and steam for 24 hours
  • Avoid shampoo, make up, lash conditioners, makeup removers, creams and serums on the lashes/brows for 24 hours
  • Do not vigorously rub or play with your lashes/brows, ever!
  • Brush lashes/brows through every time you cleanse your face/eyes.

Lash and Brow Tint

Before your appointment;

  • Please don’t wear mascara or makeup on the area for 24 hours prior to treatment. They can create a barrier which can give poor results.
  • Please don’t use anything oily or waxy on the area for 24 hours prior to treatment. This can create a barrier which can give poor results.
  • Fake tan can go a funny colour so make sure there’s none on your brows for about a week prior.
  • If you haven’t had a treatment or patch test in over 6 months you will need to have a patch test at least 72 hours prior to your treatment.

After your appointment;

  • Protect your lashes and brows from UV exposure and harsh cleansing products for longest results.
  • Condition your lashes and brows daily.

Gel Polish on fingers

Before your appointment;

  • Please give your hands and nails a good clean and scrub before your appointment.
  • If you aren’t booked for removal at your appointment please ensure you have removed your gel polish safely and properly or contact me to see if it can be added onto your appointment.

After your appointment;

  • Apply Cuticle Oil to the whole nail and cuticle area daily, including under the nail tip edge.
  • Wear gloves for any household or garden chores, protect your nails from water and cleaning chemicals.
  • Avoid prolonged water exposure as this can cause lifting and peeling of gel polish.
  • Do not use your nails as tools, don’t pick things with them. Most chipped nails come from picking at something.
  • Do not pick or peel your gel polish off as it damages the nails – I will know if you have!
  • Sellotape is the devil… get yourself a tape dispenser so you don’t have to pick the end of the tape.

Gel Polish on toes

Before your appointment;

  • Please give your feet and nails a good clean and scrub before your appointment.
  • If you aren’t booked for gel polish removal at your appointment please ensure you have removed your gel polish safely and properly, or contact me to see if it can be added on.
  • If you have severely cracked skin, use Footlogix Cracked Heel Formula.

After your appointment;

  • Apply Cuticle Oil to the whole nail and cuticle area daily. This will help to keep the product and the nails flexible.
  • Apply your prescribed Footlogix Mousse Formula to your feet once or twice a day.
  • Use your Footlogix foot file once a week or as necessary after a bath or shower to remove rough, dry skin.
  • Do not pick or peel your gel polish off – I will know if you have!
  • For best results rebook every 4-6 weeks.
